The Victorian Veterans Council (VVC) and the Victorian Government are pleased to announce that Joel Sardi has been engaged as the major keynote speaker at the ESO Summit.
The Power of Perspective
“I have not yet written a book, or climbed Mt Everest but I WILL change your life.” - Joel Sardi
On 31 August 2014, Joel had a fall and broke his C2, C5, T3, T4 & T5 vertebrae. The injury caused irreparable spinal cord damage. Joel is classified as a C-5 quadriplegic.
Joel had been serving in the Australian Army for the previous five years as a Rifleman at 7RAR, Adelaide when he had his accident. He had recently returned home from an eight month deployment in Afghanistan, in December 2013.
At the ESO Summit Joel will share his story and life experiences, from his time in the Australian Army and comparisons with life pre and post-injury.
Joel's presentation will highlight the power of perspective and will equip delegates with the insights and tools needed to enhance support for the veteran community.
After hearing Joel's message you'll be ready to harness the ‘Power of Perspective’..
“If you harness your perspective, you will be free” – Joel Sardi
National Army - AFL Coach
"We have had Joel present his story to our playing groups the past two years, his journey from being fully fit and healthy to a quadriplegic puts our players lives into real perspective. To hear the detail of his everyday thoughts throughout his current rehab process, shows how brave he is, plus how important to surround yourself with positive people that at times challenge you to be better. His determination to tick his goals off is truly inspirational. We would strongly recommend other professional teams hear his story"
LTCOL Ross Chapman
Commanding Officer - ADFA
“We took the opportunity for Joel to brief 900 of our Trainees at the Australian Defence Force Academy. His presentation was extremely well communicated and received by the audience who related closely with his military background. A different outlook was offered on how to put problems in perspective and overcome unexpected curveballs that arise in life. The key takeaways from Joel’s talk are valuable and worthwhile. I would recommend any organisation that values mental resilience as a key attribute of its staff to leverage his experiences and ability to communicate in an engaging and personable manner”
