Veterans Sector Study

The Veterans Sector Study 2022 will help inform and shape future Victorian Government policies and programs to support Victoria’s veterans and their families.

Sector Study shaping the future for veterans

The Victorian Veterans Council has commissioned the third Victorian Veterans Sector Study, at the request of the Victorian Minister for Veterans, the Hon Shaun Leane MP.

The study, undertaken by Grosvenor Performance Group, will help inform and shape future Victorian Government support and initiatives for Victorian veterans and their families.

The study is focused on housing, mental health, employment and training, and the impact COVID-19 has had on the veteran sector. Other important and emerging issues affecting the sector may also be identified through the research and consultations process.

Consultation process

A series of in-person focus group sessions were held in April and May across Victoria with veterans, their families, and Victoria’s ex-service organisations that support them, as well as an online survey.

Next steps

A final report of the 2022 study findings and recommendations will be submitted to the Council in July 2022. The Council will review and provide its final recommendations to the Victorian Government to respond.

Previous Victorian Veteran Sector Studies

The Victorian Veterans Council conducted sector studies in 2008 and 2015. These studies have helped shape successful policy initiatives around employment, housing, and wellbeing programs such as the Public Sector Veteran Employment Strategy.
